OTA Throughput Measurements
Over-the-Air (OTA) throughput measurements refer to the process of evaluating the performance of WiFi Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) in “real-world” conditions. This testing methodology involves measuring throughput or other relevant quantities which describe speed and the quality of data transmitted over a wireless communication channel. Dedicated Test Facilities capable of reproducing different indoor environments are used.
OTA throughput measurements are frequently conducted by carriers (operators) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) using various protocols during the development and qualification processes of their wireless devices. Results allow us to evaluate the impact of various factors, including antenna design, signal strength, interference, distance, and environmental conditions, on the wireless link performance.
The main goal of conducting OTA throughput measurements is to ensure that the overall product design is completed such that it maximizes the wireless performance of a device.
